Bonairean street artist Juny (real name Riginaldo Gustina) painted a amazing mural on the wall of the puppy kennel at the Animal Shelter Bonaire.

As you can see it is an artists impression of Bonny the Superdog, the mascotte of the free sterilization project of the shelter.

Sika Mik made beautiful pieces of art out of driftwood and coral. The art was sold in the Kontiki restaurant.  Sika donated the revenues of this sale to the Animalshelter Bonaire.

Art auction and Indonesian diner Animal Shelter

Friday, November 27, the Animal Shelter Bonaire has held her 5th bi-annual fundraiser, consisting of an Indonesian diner and the famous art auction. The event was held at Plaza Resort Bonaire this time.

Many local artists cooperated by donating some of their art pieces, which w

ere auctioned that evening by a dedicated René Essing, assisted by Aniek Schouten.

The Indonesian diner is cooked and served this time by the team of Rosita, “Bous” and Jerry, of the Plaza Resort. They have, together with cook Willem and many helpers, put together a delicious diner for around 120 guests.

The total result of the evening was over Naf. 14.000,00. All the money goes to the spay and neuter project of the Animal shelter; “Bonny the Superdog”

The Animal Shelter Bonaire is very thank full to all artists, volunteers and sponsors Plaza Resort and Warehouse, for their contribution to the fundraiser.

Saturday December 10th the Bonaire Animal Shelter again organizes the Art and Fun Auction!

The always entertaining fundraiser will be held at Sense. Before the Auction the famous and loved INDONESIAN meal is served between 18:00 and 20:00, tickets a $ 35.- p.p. are required for the meal. The Auction starts at 20:30, and is free and open to the public!

The Shelter still has trouble maintaining the terrain due to lack of funds. Volunteers certainly do a terrific job but they can’t do it all. For example, there is an urgent need to rebuild the kennels we use for the first reception of incoming dogs. The kennels need to be made safer, more hygienic and watertight.

A wide variety of stunning artwork and vouchers has been donated by sponsors and artists! You will be guaranteed to find the perfect Christmas gift to fit every budget! Take a glance at artwork of all different mediums, original jewelry and some really interesting vouchers offered by local businesses. More items will be added in the next two weeks, so keep an eye on it!
